Aw, I like “X-Cops” - been a while since I’ve watched it but the running gag in which everyone suddenly starts giving self-serious monologues to the camera once they’re aware that Cops is filming cracks me up. The first season does have some classics, “Beyond the Sea” is wonderful imo, Brad Dourif’s monologue about his absolute terror of being executed is one of the best moments in the show. Also like “Darkness Falls,” I think about it every time I go hiking in the pacific northwest. For me the mytharc starts to break down once the bees show up, although the episode that introduces the bees does have the great scene in which Mulder pours gasoline over his head, and then is like “you have to lead me, i can’t see!”
Other awful ones - “Sanguinarium” (insanely violent evil plastic surgeon), “El Mundo Gira” (chupacabra/mexican soap opera), “Schizogeny” (evil tree/child abuse/god knows).
Are you bothering with the last couple seasons? I do recommend watching “Via Negativa,” one of their better straight-up horror episodes, where a cult leader with a third eye gets into Doggett’s dreams.
