By 2016 the hype had already deflated. In fact the window for anyone to be excited about new Pixies material had already probably closed by the time they put anything new out at all.
I actually think Indie Cindy has a lot of decent tracks on it, it’s probably as good as Bossanova at least.
The ones after that I maybe heard once or twice each. I remember Head Carrier having more of a classic Pixies sound but I wasn’t that fussed about the songs. And Beneath The Eerie was a bit more atmospheric and melodic. The last one just seemed like bog standard alternative rock, and so far so does this one.
I’d rather Frank went back to the delightful synth rock sound of his first two solo albums!
