I don’t know. I know that its reputation got worse after everybody decided that Batman & Robin was the worst movie ever made (which, by the way, was NOT the immediate reaction to the movie in 1997, although I agree that it’s a zero.)

Tommy Lee Jones in general is a really good actor but he was hamming it up horribly in Batman Forever. This was right after his other really hammy performance, Natural Born Killers. Those are the only two times I’ve ever seen him suck. I wonder how much of that had to do with him winning that Oscar.

Either way, none of the four pre-Nolan Batman films really hold up that well. I’m not terribly nostalgic for any of them.

I think Jim Carrey would find it amusing that the only movie of his you liked was the one that has the least to do with “Jim Carrey.”
