The legacy of the single-player campaign is that GoldenEye 007 is indisputably a game that one must play on medium (“secret agent”) or hard (“00 Agent”) difficulty; that is absolutely and without question the “real” game. The game is legitimately challenging in a way that compels you to play it on those difficulty levels. It also compels you to get all the cheats, which you must get by beating levels on certain difficulty settings in a set amount of time, which is often very frustrating but also, yes, compelling to try and do, especially for those of us with hideous OCD like me.

There will always be a small part of me that wants to go back and do every single pre-2000 beloved RPG game that I missed but hey, I’m only NOW playing the first two 8 bit Final Fantasy games.
