I don’t really know what the enduring legacy of the single-player campaign is. I remember it as a game that was huge because it provided a multi-player experience that would previously have required four good computers and fast internet in an era of dialup.

Speaking of playing breakthrough multi-player games alone, I played through Secret of Mana again and it was disappointing. The combat system has real issues and the fact that it was only abou 2/3 finished shows really badly. I still enjoyed the earlier portions of the game, and sporadic bits later on.
