I didn’t mean for that echo chamber comment to be condescending, sorry if it did. I do think that most informed U.S. Democrats saw this as a likely loss.
What I do think that the American media echo-chambers insulated white collar liberals from was how many black and Latino voters Trump was pulling in. When I was watching the election coverage I heard it mentioned mentioned that the Trump campaign’s messaging in Latino communities talked to them the same way they talked to blue collar white people. I’m not really sure what media they’re talking about, but that makes sense. Alot of Mexican Americans hate illegal immigration and think that it’s ruining things for everyone else. The also mentioned school vouchers as an issue that’s big with Latino communities and that Democrats oppose.
The other thing I noticed watching “liberal” election coverage was that their class distinctions were all couched in terms of “college educated” vs. “not college educated,” rather than using terms like “white collar,” “blue collar,” and “working class.”
Did you know that Canadian legislation mandates that “news” content is not allowed on social media?
lol, I didn’t know that, but you’d think anyone would have predicted that result.
