I can’t name the wives of Walter Mondale or George McGovern or Hubert H Humphrey or John Kerry (I remember his daughter wore a see-through dress though) or even John McCain either, so there’s that. I did know who Nancy Reagan and Barbara Bush were though.
My oldest memory of Ronald Reagan was my mom calling him a “skunk.” I think this is when he was still president. I remember my mom listening to Steve Winwood’s “Roll With It” over and over and over and over during this time. The earliest memories I have that I can put a date on are Christmas 1987 though there may be older memories than that that I can’t put a date on.
My CHIEF memory of the tail end of the 1980s was watching the Giants-A’s World Series when that San Francisco earthquake happened and a green standby message came on the screen. (I was a Cubs fan because we got WGN on cable in Kansas so I could watch Harry Caray) Through the magic of the Internet I was able to look this up! It was eerie
