I actually thought that the Love Conquers All version was the original release. I’ve never seen it though.

I also think Brazil is his best but only own 12 Monkeys, which I also love and think is his second best. It’s held back by Brad Pitt though. This isn’t a complaint that I really care about, just and observation, but I didn’t expect to find anything that had aged when I last rewatched it, but feel like the “damaged man kidnapping his female caregiver, which leads to romance” would not fly now.
