Believe it or not, TMNT Tournament Fighters was released for NES, SNES, and Genesis (one of the last NES games), and all three versions are in the Cowabunga Collection. There are also separate arcade and NES versions for TMNT2 and both arcade and SNES versions of Turtles 4, plus the other Game Boy and NES games and I think one Genesis exclusive. Bottom line is that it’s not a very good collection, unlike the Castlevania and Contra collections, simply because the games aren’t that good. Is there a great TMNT game besides the arcade? I haven’t played Turtles 4.

I never made it past the third level of Turtles 1, though not for lack of trying. The dam level usually gets me. Nonetheless it’s a really fun game, I thought.

Before I died running and jumping was serving me well in SMB. If I had made it to the later levels I would have slowed down, but I didn’t. You can actually get surprisingly far (2/3 of the game?) in Mortal Kombat 2 by just using Raiden’s back-back-forward move over and over (on easy settings).

I can’t blame that forum-dweller for being skeptical about Kingdom Hearts. Does a “Disney tie-in action-RPG” sound promising? It is, but it sure sounded dubious at first. Licensed games are usually shit (hi, TMNT1, although I like the game) but it’s firmly a Square game. For some reason I bought it back in the day and liked it. Maybe I first played it from Gamefly, which was a Netflix clone but for disc games, that I think has now gone the way of all physical media (except for the books, CDs, and LPs in my apartment).
