I already mentioned that my mom had a Steve Winwood cassette around when I was six or seven and would play that song “Roll With It” ALL THE TIME. She also played the song “Odin (Spirit Of The Water)” by John Stewart all the time but that wasn’t a hit, just a Fleetwood Mac knockoff deep cut.
A possible candidate is Dire Straits’ “Walk Of Life,” though I wouldn’t have known the name of the song or the band for many years later, just the keyboard line.
I remember “We Didn’t Start The Fire” from when I was very young, too.
I didn’t know how “Stairway To Heaven” went until I was 16 and started downloading rock mp3s in 1998. The first rock song I liked was “Bohemian Rhapsody,” because of Wayne’s World, but I can’t really listen to it anymore.
