I did not like George W. Bush, or his presidency, or his voter base, and you can always point out that he got us into two rather awful wars and say he was worse than Trump for that alone…but I’m not convinced that he was a)actually as stupid as his enemies made him out to be, or that b)the godawful decisions he made were decisions that were not being made by an actual human being, albeit one I wouldn’t like very much. It’s not that Bush had no ego but Trump really does seem to be taking his cues from shameless, never-go-down-no-matter-what Internet trolls. It was funny to me when Ellen DeGeneres started palling around with Bush and everyone hated for it, then everyone just started hating her period.

I have a shred of optimism about me too, but it’s a weary optimism. Project 2025 is pretty awful regardless of whether or not left wingers are blowing it a bit out of proportion, either way it’s all about giving the executive branch way too much power and it’s a dumb idea.
I could hate transgender people like they were the devil incarnate and I still think it would be a bad idea to just go around throwing them all in prison.
