Jonny Greenwood and Thom are actually in a newer band now called The Smile. Jonny is probably still doing soundtracks as well but The Smile seems to be the next new thing right now for Thom and Jonny. They have 2 albums and i heard they were good. I want to hear them but kind of have little desire to as well even though i heard it had a cool 70s prog/krautrock sound.
I really like Up and Reveal. Have to be in the mood for Up because it’s long and slow but its got some good songs on it. ‘Reveal’ inches towards adult contemporary (which I guess Behind The Sun goes full on into but I never heard that one and might not ever bother to) but it does have several really good tunes. They completely lost me after that. I always want to revisit Accelerate and try to get into it but its just kind of dull. Not sure how Collapse Into Now is. They unfortunately just got really dull and maybe thats why they broke up. Its really an unfortunate end for such a great band at one time.
Brian seems to have dementia from what it is implied so yeah he is gone for good. It is really sad and hes never coming back but i guess musically he hasn’t done much of anything interesting in many years anyways. It is great he finished Smile and have had such a legacy after the Beach Boys for years though so God bless him.
