If the movie was good I’d forgive their dumb continuity flubs, and it ended up being so bad that they don’t matter anyway. They’re just the most obvious example of what feels to me like a script written by different people who were barely comparing notes, and then not given a proper final edit.
I remember we had a discussion about how the opening scene with Schwarzenegger beating up those bikers is kind of offensive (since he basically starts the fight)
I guess that watching it cold (if anyone can even imagine that at this point) we don’t start out knowing who the good Terminator is, so maybe that’s to help fake us out. When the T-1000 kills the cop, it’s not totally clear that he stabbed and killed him, rather than just knocking him out or something. This made me wonder about how clear it was in the pre-release media that Arnold was good this time. Do you know if they tried to hide it before opening weekend? I watched three trailers. One had no real footage of the movie and was Arnold being built in a factory. One seemed to want to leave it ambiguous, but at the end it had Arnold promising not to kill humans (although there’s no context, so maybe people would have suspected it was a lie). One was explicit about it him being the hero this time.
I just looked it up. Yeah, Schwarzenegger got $30 million for T3.
He actually made more than that. He was guaranteed $29.5 million when he signed, even if something happened and the movie didn’t get made. Then he got some other bonuses and a cut based on profits. I can’t quickly find the total amount, but I know I read $36 million the other day. No wonder they weren’t able to pay someone to edit the script for continuity errors.
but remember he got $25 million for Batman & Robin.
Honestly, I have no words
True Lies is 30 years old this year. What’s the best received movie he’s made since then?
I wonder how much a Metal Gear NES cartridge signed by Michael Beihn is worth.
