I really liked The 6th Day when I was watching a lot of Schwarzenegger movies in high school. It’s a similar sort of plot to Total Recall (a malfunction creates a clone of Arnold while the real one is still alive and well – being alive when you’re not supposed to, in a sci-fi world). True Lies is one of my favorite Arnold movies (Jamie Lee Curtis is oogly to me, penis rumors aside, and a great deal of the movie went into establishing her as really hot, or tried to.) So even though the big bombshell hot chick, well, wasn’t*, I thought the movie kicked ass.
I’ve actually never seen Predator. When I was Arnold-loving-aged, the Terminator franchise was just two movies, with a third in the works. Fair enough; it’s a story worth exploring. So like Star Wars and Pokémon, it blew up beyond reason when I was just a bit too old for it.
- Some people, well, have serious issues with this device, or really have serious issues in general, because it’s formulaic and overtly colloquial, and has bo place in good writing. But, like “the fact that” – “the fact” is nearly always redundant filler, isn’t it? I use it when referring ro a particular fact. I’m not the only one who has realized rhis; some writers go to great lengths to write around “the fact that” and the singular they.
