I probably didn’t see any reviews of Final Fight 3 at the time. Quickly looking it up, it seems like it just came out too late in the system’s life and didn’t add enough. Maybe it actually sucks, I haven’t played it in 28 or 29 years, but my guess is that playing it now and ignoring historical perspective it’s probably better than the first one. I thought so at the time, and it’s two player and has more characters and moves. Looking at each game in context it is the least impressive release.

Do they even make side scrolling beat em ups like this anymore?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a 6 player game in that style based on the classic 80’s & 90’s cartoon/action figures version of TMNT, like NES & SNES Turtles’ games in that style. It was warmly received and the one time I played it I thought it was a ton of fun. I don’t know if there are games like that based on commercial properties or general aesthetics that aim at younger audiences.

Oh yeah, I remember Final Fight Guy, I saw the cart in a grocery store once.

You should have rented it, said that you lost it and paid the penalty, and then sold it on ebay 25 years later for a profit. This is why students need to learn economics at a younger age.
