but I don’t know if I could possibly explain to a younger person how pop music has “changed” between 2004 and now. I’m not sure I could summarize the “movements,” or if there even WERE movements, the last “movements” I remember paying attention to were nu-metal, emo, crunk and that whole blip-on-the-radar Strokes/White Stripes/Vines/Hives “garage rock” movement of which Jack White is the only remaining figure of any real note. Since that era, the only “movements” I even know of are reggaeton (which I think dates back to the late 1980s anyway) and dubstep (which everyone made terrible fun of anyway.)

I’m 42 in two weeks BTW.

Replying to Ken, yeah Radiohead’s James Bond song barely made a noise, huh? If Radiohead made a new album it’d probably be about as good as A Moon Shaped Pool which was okay but not godlike.
