I liked those songs. Thanks a lot!
I got the impression that Lolita Nation was some sort of legendary cult album because of the whole “double album, crazy experimental, out of print, impossible to find, James Joyce references, look at that track with the crazy long title” aspect, but when I did a relisten of it about a year ago I could barely find any reviews of it and the full album stream on Youtube didn’t even have 50,000 views despite the video being up for ten years. It’s got some good stuff on it, but what a mess. I kind of consider it a failure. (The best song is “Mammoth Gardens,” an obvious MTV-friendly power pop tune sung by the smoking hot girl in the band.)
That being said, an 80s college rock band produced by Mitch Easter should have been a priority of mine when I was 20, not 42, so get to them I shall!
