I don’t think that there are any weak songs on this album, but I would say that ”Love Or Confusion”/”May This Be Love””I Don’t Live Today” are not on the same of level as the rest of the tracks, which are all great.
Of the bonus singles, Stone Free and especially Highway Chile and Red House are great songs. Red House does not remind me of the 1930s though, I think it’s very much the flavor of blues that came out of the 1960s. The other three bonus tracks are weak, although they’re not “bad” songs.
This is Hendrix’s strongest collection of songs, but at the same time it’s hard to call something the ultimate Hendrix album with no wah-wah peddle on it.
Regarding his live albums: although Jimi Plays Monterey is one of the most famous I really don’t think that the album isn’t one of his best, but do not miss the film. It got a Criterion release.
