BTTF is mentioned all the time in discussions of how the Boomers sold out to consumerism, with all the product placement in the film coming from two children of the 60s like Zemeckis and Spielberg.

The story about some guy who worked for the raisin industry wanting there to be raisin bowls on all the tables at the prom, unaware that he’d have to be told that a bowl of raisins photographs like a pile of dirt, was a pretty funny anecdote about the whole thing.

I don’t think one hears a hell of a lot about Roger Rabbit anymore. It hasn’t been forgotten or anything but I wonder how many people today know that it got glowing reviews back when it came out, not merely hailed as a tech breakthrough? Hell I only just now found out that Eddie Murphy was supposed to be Eddie Valiant.

I was disappointed to find out that WFRR wasn’t actually the most expensive movie of the 1980s–the $70 million price tag was apparently falsely reported back in the day. Ditto for The Abyss, though that one looked costlier.

I haven’t actually watched Gump all the way through since it came out!! The constant over-referencing of it during my youth put me off ever actually watching it again.
