With Hitchhiker’s Life, the Universe and Everything wasn’t even originally a Hitchhiker’s story, it was a rewrite of a rejected Doctor Who serial. After Doctor Who didn’t want it Adams rewrote it to use it as the second Hitchhiker’s TV serial, but they decided not to continue the TV series.
