I agree it’s not necessary to have an informed opinion on all popular media. I just often see people confidently talking out their ass about her all the time, as if hearing some People Magazine gossip crap about her or seeing her on tv at the superbowl or whatever is a substitute for actually listening to the music she makes.

And I’m not referring to you or anyone on the board specifically here but there does exist a tendency among some music nerd types to turn their noses up at artists the more mainstream they are (or simply just refuse to engage because they’re sick of the media overexposure), and Taylor would fall into that zone as much as anybody. Not that she needs the pretentious music nerds on her side, obviously her fanbase is more than big enough as it is.
